John E. Lindros earned a J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree in 1975 from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, N.J., where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Journal, and where he won the American Jurisprudence Awards in Corporations and Torts. In addition, he also has a Master of Laws (Taxation) [LL.M.] degree in 1992 from Villanova University School of Law, and also graduated from St. Joseph's University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in European History. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar on January 20, 1982.
Mr. Lindros is also a member of the Delaware Bar since his admission there in 1976, and is a member of the California Bar since 1989, as well as being admitted before the U.S. Tax Court (1977) and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (2002) and the District of Delaware (1979).
He practiced privately in Wilmington, Delaware from 1976 to 1981, with a practice focused on the representation of owners of closely held businesses and substantial net worth individuals. The practice included tax advice and planning, deferred compensation and qualified plans, business and corporate matters, civil litigation, wealth transfer planning, residential and commercial real estate, civil and commercial litigation. He retains the same focus today. Beginning in 1981, he began practicing inside major corporations. He was with Atlantic Richfield Company and its affiliate ARCO Chemical Company, serving for over 15 years in posts of increasing responsibility in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom, and California, and ultimately serving as Associate General Tax Officer of ARCO Chemical Company. In 1997, he joined InterGen, an independent electric power producer owned by Shell Oil and Bechtel Group, Inc., where he served in Boston, Massachusetts and became Vice President, Taxes, heading their world-wide tax function. He practiced privately as a sole practitioner in West Chester, Pennsylvania from 2002 until he co-founded Toscani & Lindros, LLP in 2005.
Mr. Lindros is a member of the Pennsylvania, Chester County, Delaware and California Bar Associations. He is Chair of the Business Law Section of the Chester County Bar Association and provides regular approved CLE (Continuing Legal Education) programs for members of the Bar. He was named for ‘Excellence’ in business law by Main Line Today magazine in 2010. He is a Master Member of the American Inns of Court, John E. Stively, Jr. Chapter. He has been a frequent public speaker on business law and tax matters.
He is an adjunct lecturer in Business Law and in Political Science at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania, teaching Business Law, U.S. Constitutional Law as well as Current Events and History courses, and has taught Business Law at the University of Delaware. He has served as a member of the Board of Visitors of the Haub School of Business at St. Joseph's University.
He has been an active member of the Tax Executives Institute, holding officer and director positions in several cities, including service as Vice President of the Philadelphia Chapter, and as the Chair of the Federal Tax Committees for the Philadelphia and the New England Chapters. He has served on the Tax Policy Committees of the Western Oil & Gas Association, the Chemical Manufacturers Association, the National Foreign Trade Council, and the Electric Power Supply Association. In the past, he has been a member of the Wilmington Tax Group, and the European-American Tax Institute.
In community activities, he has served as Treasurer and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Daylesford Lake Condominium Association. He also served as President of the Piermont Woods Civic Association in Newark, Delaware. He has been a Committee Chair for Lobbying Planning during the development of the 2001 Strategic Plan of the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District. He was Treasurer and a Board member of the Berwyn Paoli Area Little League.
